It’s your wedding. It’s the most special, thrilling and wondrous day of your life. It’s about two people binding themselves together for the rest of their lives, in front of people and family they love most. It’s the most amazing thing you’ll ever do. That’s why your wedding photographs should be truly amazing, too.
I wholeheartedly believe that wedding photography should be shot unobtrusively in documentary style, also known as reportage or photojournalism, utilising natural light wherever possible. It’s the only way to capture the heart and soul of your wedding day; to document it exactly as it unfolds, with truth and spirit. When you look back at your photographs in years to come, do you want to see endless pictures of people standing in a line, or shots which capture the drama, the emotion and the laughter? I know what I’d prefer.
That’s why I’m a documentary wedding photographer. However, I also believe that weddings are about glamour and style and WOW! – which is why when it comes to your couple’s shots, I shoot these as fine art wedding photography, using gorgeous location lighting, inside and out, to create and capture moments of pure beauty and out-and-out fabulousness!
Every wedding is individual and that’s reflected in the way I photograph your day and process your images. I want you to love your wedding photographs and feel that they’re a real interpretation of your own personalities, tastes and style. So, I take care to get to know my clients prior to the wedding day, to build up mutual understanding and trust and to assist me to work as unobtrusively as possible on the day itself.
I take exceptional time and care over each wedding I work on. Each image is carefully edited and hand finished to create photographs of supreme quality. It’s an unhurried, artisan approach which is a collaborative process between photographer and client. Due to the time I invest into each wedding, I take on a strictly limited amount of bookings each year.
I do understand that ‘formal’ group shots are still important to many people, particularly family members, so these can be incorporated into the day. However, I recommend to my clients that group shots should be kept to a minimum; partly for the comfort of your guests, and partly to ensure that I have time to photograph your guests in reportage style, which I believe is far more flattering, as well as evoking many more memories of your day.
The images above are just a few of my favourite shots. I hope you love them as much as I loved taking them. For a fuller idea of my work, take a look at the images page and also take a browse through my work via ‘real weddings’ on the blog page.
