Many thanks for the comment Linus! Absolutely agree with regard to the hard drives - they really are nowhere near failproof, I've had drives fail on me more than once.

If you value your pictures, have at least one (preferably two) backups, or better still, get copies printed and show them with pride!

Sad news, but a sign of the times. i suppose they just cant compete with all the cheaper labs where you can just email/ftp your images to. But also true that people just aren't printing images, they are instantly viewable and are then left on a hard drive, that will eventually fail and the pictures will be lost forever - a real crime in itself!

In this digital era having a wide choice of ways in which to frame & display photography, do put the effort in and make your house a home. Even seek out the advice of a professional like Belinda who can offer beautiful products in which to present your memories.

Thanks for your reply Claire :)

The title was too faded to read on the spine of the book, and I didn't want to touch it or move it - it felt like I was intruding upon a personal moment to do so! So I never found out what the title of the book was, but that's kind of OK. In a way, it feels better that it remained unknown.

I haven't actually read Fahrenheit 451, but I do know of it and the concepts contained within the story. (One of far too many on the 'to read' list!) I wonder what Ray Bradbury makes of the Kindle and if he sees his vision coming true?

I guess it's yet to be determined if e-readers are actually bringing literature to people who would otherwise not bother reading a traditional book, and therefore perpetuating the art of reading, or if they are just one more stepping stone to the death of the novel. I REALLY hope that it's the former.

You've piqued my curiosity Belinda - do you remember the title of this book? I know it's not about that, but in a sense it would complete the story.

It's interesting - especially seeing you as a book lover - that you've transformed a situation, a photograph of a book, into a story all of its own.

I'm assuming you've read Fahrenheit 451? Your post reminded me of it; it inspires every bit of that passion for reading in me.

Very interesting article Belinda. As you say, I think Vintage, when used well, can look lovely. It really depends upon the personality of the couple I think. If they are obviously retro/vintage in their normal lives then the vintage look is unlikely to date. I think the problem with any trend or style is when it is used by photographers regardless of whether it suits the couple in question. When the dramatic, artistic style of posed wedding photography became popular, I can't tell you the number of awful photos I came across where the groom looks looks like a complete chump as is he bends his new bride backwards over some crumbling castle ruins ....Usually the photos are all processed to within an inch of their lives as well with off-the-shelf photoshop actions .....
