Congratulations to Kate and Sally! They tied the knot at the Square and Compass, a traditional barn wedding venue, in Ashill, near Taunton, Somerset, with their friends and family in attendance to help them celebrate their special day.

Both Kate and Sally had their bridal preparations in the accommodation at the Square and Compass just a few rooms from each other, which made it easy for me as their documentary wedding photographer to nip between rooms and record the moment they both stepped into their wedding dresses. Kate and Sally had both, unknown to each other, chosen the same fabulous wedding dress – which says to me just how in tune they are in style!

As seems the norm this summer, we had to dodge the showers  - but we still managed to grab the few moments of sunshine for the couple’s shots. Take a look – you’d never know that the sun didn’t shine all day! Kate and Sally also wanted to bring their individuality, relaxed style and humour to their photographs, which lead us to use some less traditional settings – it’s the first time I’ve photographed a wedding couple in a polytunnel (and what fun it was!) We also had the fun of a ‘hockey stick archway’ for the couple to walk under as they left the ceremony, organised by Kate’s hockey team-mates!

I’m delighted to share some of the images from Kate and Sally’s wedding below. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did taking them.

  1. Great set of photos. I love all the different locations you shot the brides in. Looks like you went on quite a trek!
