Real Weddings: Juliette & Alan, a marquee celebration in Somerset
I’m pleased to introduce my first ‘real wedding’ blog of 2012! Juliette and Alan travelled from their home in London to marry in rural Somerset, followed by a marquee reception at Juliette’s family home, literally opposite the church.
Juliette and Alan’s wedding was a relaxed and exceptionally happy affair, as is often the case with marquee weddings. As a photographer, I see many wedding receptions held at home, and I think that the familiarity of the surroundings leads to a lessening of stress for the bride and groom – meaning much more laughter! However, relaxed and ‘at home’ doesn’t mean any loss of style, as you can see from the following images.
My brief for the day as wedding photographer was to provide pure reportage photography, which gave me the opportunity to record the wedding in its purest form – documenting, not directing events. There was so much about this wedding to document as well, for family and friends came together from all over the world to attend these much-awaited nuptials. Alan’s family are from Ireland, and a section of Juliette’s family came on a whistle-stop tour from South America!
Take a look at these lovely documentary wedding photographs – I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them.
